The future...why we walk.

Please Support My Journey

The Weekend to End Women's Cancer is a two-day, 60-kilometre walk through the neighbourhoods of Calgary, taking place July 21-23, 2012. During one amazing weekend thousands of women and men will join forces to walk 60 kilometres and make a real difference in the fight to end breast cancer and all women's cancers. The money we raise will benefit The Alberta Cancer Foundation, a leader in this critical cause. One in nine Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, maybe even someone special in your life. If we can find the link between all women's cancers then we will find the cure for all of them.

I have had the honour of participating the last seven years in this walk. Each journey has forever changed my life. The people along the way touched my life in a way that I never imagined they could. In an instant, strangers became friends. I am truly blessed to be healthy and able to participate and to make a difference.

I am proud and excited to be walking again in 2012. It?s a weekend of hope, as we honour lives lost, celebrate survivors, and help bring cancer care to those who so desperately need it.

The women that inspired me to participate in the very first walk of 2005 continue to inspire me every single day. I know that they will keep me going, keep my feet moving when I think I can't take another step.

My Inspirations:

Shirley Jackson - April 14, 1936 - Nov. 12, 1992
Connie Basaraba - March 6, 1959 - March 7, 2004
Linda Bishton - Oct. 14, 1959 - April 12, 2004

I am walking for all the women in my life. I am walking for my son Nicholas and his wonderful wife Nicola, and for my son Harrison and the woman he will some day share his life with. I never want them to face the pain of losing their lovely lady to this horrible disease. I walk for my nieces, with the hopes that their future is one without fear of breast cancer or any other cancer that afflicts women.

I will be training all year long so that I am strong and ready for the challenge. I graciously ask for your support. Your pledge is a gift to women who face the challenge of this horrible disease and to their families who stand beside them in their journey. Your pledge is a gift to the generations to come.

This year your dollar will be matched by the Macquarie Group Foundation.  To find out more about the foundation please visit http://www.macquarie.ca/mgl/ca/about/en/foundation

Thank you for your support. There are angels on earth!

Together we will find a cure!
