Together in Hope We Walk

Hope is an image of goals
planted firmly in your mind.
When looking at life before you,
hope lines the paths you find.

Hope is a well of courage
nestled deep within your heart.
When faltering in fear and doubt,
hope pushes you to start.

Hope is an urge to keep going,
for limbs too tired and weak.
When apathy stills all desire,
hope sparks the fuel you seek.

Hope is a promise of patience
as you wait for distress to wane.
When all you can do is nothing,
hope pulls you through the pain.

Hope is a spirit that lifts you
should heaviness pull at your soul.
When torn apart by losses,
hope mends to keep you whole.

Hope is what keeps us going.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer on April 1st 2009. As a daughter of a breast cancer survivor, my mother and I have seen 1st hand what hope can do.

Last year, a colleague of mine that participated in the walk in 2010 was diagnosed with breast cancer. A 36 year old mother of two, has just successfully completed her chemo and radiation treatments last week.

We walked together in 2010 along with her sisters. It was a phemonimal experience to walk along side of her. Nothing was going to defeat her. Her strength throughout every step, her courage to continue, her laughs, her tears, she was simply incredible.

I have learned that walking 60km to raise funds for cancer is nothing. What is something is having a mother, a friend, a colleague have to fight a battle. Life is unpredictable, and every little thing we can do to contribute in finding a cure can make the difference.

This 60km walk has raised money for cancer research and I truly believe is one of the reasons many men and women, including my mother have conquered this disease.

Thank you for your kind and wonderful support. It is much appreciated and you will be remembered as we walk 60km through our beautiful city of Montreal.

Walking in hope that we never give up on hope....
