Soutenez-moi à travers mon aventure

My name is Sabrina Quirion, I am 16 years old and I go to the College d?Anjou. This year I decided to participate in the weekend to fight women's cancers by walking 60 km with my godmother Patricia. Why this challenge with my Godmother?  I will explain!

Since my mother asked her sister Patricia to be the godmother of the little baby who was hiding in her belly, our complicity was already filled with love. When everyone wanted to feel me move, I did not react to their touch. The minute my godmother put her hand and asked me to move for her. I responded with great force. This was the beginning of a great relationship, unique and perfect. Even today, we are bonded until the end of time. No need to speak, a simple look and we understand each other!

In 1998, when I learned that my godmother was suffering from breast cancer, I was sad and very disappointed. Despite my young age at that time, I remember that whenever I saw her, she always had a smile despite the pain she was experiencing. I never saw her give up. I found her very courageous, because keeping up morale and having the joie de vivre during these difficult times is sometimes hard to overcome. The years have passed and she has successfully beaten this monstrous cancer. In 2006, she learned that she was carrying the BRCA1 gene. After receiving this devastating news, to minimize the risk of a relapse, my godmother opted to have a hysterectomy and full mastectomy. Never could I hope for a more perfect godmother. She is my idol since I was very young and will always be forever. I have the best godmother in the whole world! Thanks to her, I am the happiest and the most filled goddaughter there ever was.

A few years later, it was my mother?s turn to learn that she was carrying the BRCA1 gene, so to minimize the risk of developing breast cancer; she had the same surgeries done like my godmother. I again felt the sadness and fear. Fortunately, everything turned out very well. I did my best to help my mother to overcome this difficult test.

With the weekend to overcome women's cancers, we can now collect donations that will be used for research. And who knows, perhaps one day, we can live in a world without cancer!

This is why I want to get involved in this weekend to participate in the 60 km walk. I can't get there alone; I need your generous support to help raise the sum of $ 2000.

For my godmother, my mother, my aunt and all women around the world, we have to fight!

Thank you!

Sincerely, Sabrina Quirion
