June 1st, 2012…

This was the day my mother lost her battle to Cancer. This was the day that I said goodbye to my mom forever, the last time I was able to hear her voice, see her smile and touch her loving hands.

10 years ago, at the age of 39, my mother Ghada was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Being a fighter, my mother decided that despite the odds she was not going to let the cancer defeat her. With the help of great doctors and nurses and the support of family and friends, my mother overcame her cancer and went into remission. From that moment on, my mother vowed to live her life to the fullest and to enjoy each and every moment. And that she did…

I remember New Years Eve 2011 my mother said to me with a big smile on her face: “This is going to be MY year”. After all the struggles she had been through and having always put everyone before herself, my mother decided that 2011 would be the year she start putting herself first. Unfortunately in February 2011, we learned that the breast cancer had returned and metastasized into lung and bone cancer. For the rest of 2011, my family and I did everything we could to help my mother fight her battle against cancer. No matter what, we never gave up hope that we would find a cure to end her suffering. Unfortunately, my mother did not win the battle, but she fought every step of the way with her head held high and her humour in tact.

This is the 3rd year that I will be participating in the Pharmaprix Weekend to End Women’s Cancer Walk, and yet it is the hardest one of all. So please, help me in the fight against cancer! My commitment is to raise $2000 and I need your support. Remember, every little bit counts and can go a long way in helping to find a cure for cancer.

Although my mother was not able to overcome her battle, help me to prevent someone else from losing his or her mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin or friend to this dreaded disease. Together we can make a difference; together we can find a cure once and for all.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and for your generous contribution.

This isn’t just my journey – it’s yours, too.
Make it a Weekend you’ll never forget.

My mother was a strong, loving, determined, and compassionate woman whom I am extremely proud of. She has raised me to be the woman I am today and I will forever be thankful for that.

I love you always and forever mom.
