Support My Journey
This will be the 11th anniversary of the Pharmaprix Weekend to End Women's Cancers and I am proud to say that I have participated each and every year. 11 years and still going strong. To date I have raised close to $50,000 and I am aiming to raise $5,000 again this year. Through the years I have endured extreme heat, hurricane winds and rain and many perfect sun filled days. And through it all I try to remember how lucky I am to be healthy. As always,I am dedicating this years walk to my mother who passed away in January 2010 after battling with leukemia for many years. . Watching her fight for her life every day was something that no one should have to endure. She was so strong and courageous. She did not deserve to suffer, no one does. Until last month I was lucky to be able to say that I did not know anyone in my close circle that was battling a women's cancer. Unfortunately I cannot say that anymore. A close friend of mine was diagnosed last month with breast cancer. Watching her go through the many steps from diagnosis to gene testing to surgery and now waiting for the treatment plan. She is being treated at the Jewish General Hospital and I can honestly say that so far it has been very impressive. In 1 months time so much has been accomplished. I truly believe that all of the money that has been raised in the past 10 years has helped make this such a positive experience so far. I will also be dedicating this walk to her. She has been so strong and positive since day 1. If my walking 60 km can possibly help her or someone who is battling some kind of cancer, then why not? They have come so far but there is still so much work to be done. My passion is walking and I would have walked to the end of the earth if I could have helped my mother or anyone else battling cancer. PLEASE help me reach my goal this year.
The Weekend to End Breast Cancer is a two-day, 60-kilometre walk through the neighbourhoods of Montreal.
