Support My Journey
For the third year, I am walking alongside my nieces Megan and Rebecca and our amazing 'atheletic supporter' my nephew Matthew (on his long board), in memory of my darling daughter Kate who succumbed to ovarian cancer in July 2009 at the young age of 39. She leaves behind a beautiful daughter, twin brothers and many, many wonderful friends and family members who miss her deeply.
She was our shining star and a true testament of courage under the most devastating circumstances. Our lives are forever changed without her but we hope that by continuing our part in the fight against women's cancers by raising funds for research, we honour her name as we proudly walk 60 kms together as team "Kate's Mates".
We welcome a new team member to our team this year. Kate's very good friend Karen has joined our small but mighty team. We look forward to many happy training walks with her.
I am also walking in memory of my dear friend Diane who succumbed to cancer in May 2009.
These brave women are sorely missed by their families and friends and Megan, Matthew, Rebecca, Karen and I will carry them in our hearts as we walk this very special walk with other friends, families, survivors and brave fighters.
