My Mom - an inspiration to so many

Be a Part of My Journey, Join My Circle For Hope!
In 1996, I lost my mom, Mearle Larocque, suddenly to pancreatic cancer. Like so many people with this silent killer, my mother was gone far too soon. Many don't think of pancreatic cancer as a women's cancer but the reality is that more than 50% of those diagnosed are female and it is now the 3rd leading cause of cancer death. What's even more frightening is that the survival rate of 6% has not changed in nearly 40 years!
I am participating in the Weekend to End Women's Cancer to honour my mother's memory and to raise funds to benefit The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret, a leader in the fight against all women's cancers.
My commitment is based on love and my realization that we each need to do our part in this fight and I have chosen to walk. My hope is that monies raised from fundraising events like this will increase the odds for survival for all women ... something my mom never had.
I ask you to join my Circle For Hope. Be a part of my very personal journey - by giving, by walking with me, or simply by sharing my story with your circle of influence.
This is my journey. This is my Weekend Circle For Hope.
Thank you for your support ... together we CAN make a difference in the fight to end cancer - Laurie Ellies
