 By Reaching 10

When I turned 40 in 2002 I discovered a lump.  I underwent almost a year of treatment for breast cancer.  In 2012, I am celebrating ten years of survival, a chance to raise my children, now 15 and 12, and thanking the people at Princess Margaret Hospital and Credit Valley Hospital for their expertise, caring and kindness. I feel very fortunate.

How fitting that I get to celebrate this milestone (plus my 50th birthday) walking with others to support another life-changing event.  The Weekend for Princess Margaret Hospital has been helping families, researchers and medical staff fight cancer for ten years.

Please consider making a donation in honour of milestones and the many participants who have walked in the past and will be walking in 2012.

Thank you for visiting my site.  Your interest means a lot. Cathy

12th Birthday
My Daughter turns 12 today. It doesn't seem that long ago when she was bouncing around as a toddler. Thanks to everyone who helped me see this day.

Montreal invites life
I was in Montreal last week for work. It's a thriving city that walks a lot. In three days I logged 33 km, which put my all time total to 542 km since I started tracking steps late last year. That is about the same distance from PMH in Toronto to Rue Ste-Catherine in Montreal. Thank you, Montreal.

Feeling Very Grateful
I feel very fortunate to be able to call on friends and family to support me in times of need, and to contribute to Princess Margaret Hospital and research. Thank you, so, so much.

Every day adds a little
I have walked more than 400 kilometres since tracking with a pedometer in November. A little every day or so adds up.

Getting Ready for the Walk
Since September, I've tried to walk as often as possible. It's great to discover how close everything is by foot.
