Support My Journey

Nine years and still walking. My name is Stephanie Hoyt and I am a walker. My family has been touched heavily by all women's cancers but especially breast cancer and I have been in awe of the strength of my loved ones. They fight and win as if there was never any doubt that they wouldn?t win. They were the reason that I started walking and over the years my reasons have increased which is why I am still here. This disease has taken too much from us, it has not cared about the time, strength or energy it has stolen but we walk to let it know that it will not win. Ever. It is rare that you get this kind of opportunity to take a stand against something so big and I will not back down from it. As long as any cancer thinks that it has the right to rob anything from us I will walk. I am always excited by the research that Princess Margaret does but I am especially glad that they are now researching and fundraising for all women's cancers. The sooner we have a cure the better.

I walk for my sons, Sebastian and Tristan.
I walk for my Mummy, Alania French, who is a survivor.
I walk for my Auntie Maria and my Auntie Glor who are both surviviors.
I walked with my mother in 2006 for Nanny who passed away in August of that year, from complications related to the cancer that she had beaten once. It is Nan's strength that I see in all her offspring.
I walk for Cindy Townsley, my sister in law that try as she might could not beat the cancer that took over her body (2007). All cancer needs to be beaten so that we can stop losing the ones we love to it.
I walk for the many friends I've known that have fought cancer.

I walk for awareness.
I walk for early detection.
I walk for survivor support.
AND I walk for a cure.

The Weekend to End Breast Cancer is a two-day, 60-kilometre walk through the neighbourhoods of Toronto, taking place September 7-8, 2013.

Proceeds benefit Princess Margaret Hospital, funding important breast cancer research, education, services and care.
