Year Eight Completed!!
Every year we dedicate our walk to someone...this year is so hard. We have:
- Our Uncle Frank who continues to fight like a trooper having had to say goodbye to his daughter not long ago, after her brave fight. (Update: Aug. 25, 2014 - RIP Uncle Frank; you will be missed!)
- My relay for life captain, Laura, who has such immense spirit and has undergone her surgery and now commences chemo treatment and prays her daughter will not have to endure what she and her mother (rest eternal) endured
- A colleague Diane, whose family has suffered greatly from this disease and who was not immune to her own diagnosis, but walks the halls with a smile on her face, still directing what energy she has at her sister, whose fight is a little tougher.
So when I talk about the blisters, muscle pain, sprains or ligament injuries, from the 60 km walk, remember that for me that's all it is...TEMPORARY and miniscule by comparison to what my family and friends have endured. So here's where you come in!! I know this is cyclical and the well will eventually dry up, but even if you're not able to help financially read on and know that you've contributed to GREAT THINGS!
Princess Margaret is leading the charge to a cure that will benefit everyone, not just women, having been cleared by Health Canada to proceed to Phase 1 clinical trial in Canada with a new drug CFI-40095. In the lab, the drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of human breast and ovarian cancers as well as colorectal, glioblastoma, lung, melanoma, pancreatic and prostate cancers. Please support my walk and allow the hard work of the Princess Margaret to continue with a pledge of support. The sooner I hit that mandatory $2,000 the sooner I can train and boy will I need some training, based upon how my muscles and feet suffered!
I'm blessed to have good overall health and family and friends (YOU) who support me which enables me to do this walk every year. Join me in my walk in spirit through a pledge of support, if you're able.
