Every Step Brings Us Closer to a Cure
Support My Journey ~ On the Road to Victory
Can you believe?...Year 7 for me...Walking for the Cure
I walk for the many loved ones who lost their battle with this dread disease, especially for my mother, Peggy Keenan who passed away 42 years ago, at the very young age of 54 and for my sister Lee, who lost her battle in October 2010 to a rare form of Ovarian Cancer.
I walk for the amazingly strong and resilient people who have fought and won, especially my wonderful sister Maribeth Ireland, a 19 year survivor, and my beautiful friends Bev Baker, Elizabeth DaSilva, Donna Dewdney and Nancy D'Guilio.
I walk for those courageous souls who are currently fighting cancer, including my youngest sister Judy who has a rare blood disorder and is receiving Chemotherapy treatment. I walk so that research continues in order to find a cure for this devastating killer which will attack one in 9 women in her lifetime. I do not want my grandchildren to have to fight this battle!
I am thankful for the opportunity to give back in a some small way to the Princess Margaret Hospital, to their warm, professional and caring staff ~ our family experienced this first hand over the past few years. We all know many who have fought the battle with this disease ~ it touches each of us in a very personal way.
Together with my teammates, we have raised more than $168,000 and walked 4500 kilometers over the years. I am excited to walk again this year and I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me by supporting me in my fundraising efforts. I have committed to raise $2,000 and hope to exceed this amount. Please join the adventure by making a donation. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your support.
