Ready to Walk
I cannot believe that this will by my 6th time participating in the awesome adventure that is the Shoppers Drug Mart Weekend to End Woman's Cancer.
Each year I am overwhelmed with emotion as I stand with thousands of men and woman at the finish line and welcome home the survivors - they are the true testament to why we walk.
Everyone in some way has been touched by cancer and standing there hearing about the monies being raised and the advancements in diagnosis, treatment and survivorship keeps me walking year after year.
Closing ceremonies In 2012 Dr. Tak Mak eluded to a breakthrough in the treatment of breast cancer and closiong ceremonites this year, he announced that the approval had been given to start human clinical trials and that the first patient would receive this new drug within the next 2 months. All made possible with the monies raised over the past 11 years of The Weekend. It's a HUGE step in the right direction, but there is still more to be done to ensure we conquer cancer in our lifetime.
The Weekend is a 2-day, 60-kilometre walk through the streets of Toronto to raise awareness for all woman's cancers!. I know it will be a challenge, but I’m committed to doing something bold and powerful in an effort to end women’s cancers in our lifetime! Cancer is hard, walking isn't!This year I am once again captain of team F.D.A. (Fight*Determination*Attitude). I know my team will have fun fundraising and train hard so that as a team we will meet our personal goals and cross the finish line together. We'd love to have more members join us on this epic journey.
If you've ever thought about walkin in The Weekend, now is the time to do it! The experience will change you for a lifetime and you can help to change someone's life along the way!!!I cannot do this on my own, I need your help to reach my fundraising goals. I ask that you please, think of your mothers, your daughters, your sisters and your friends and make a donation so that those currently fighting have hope and hope that in the future there will be no cancer.
This isn’t just my journey – it’s yours, too.Make it a Weekend you’ll never forget.
