“The new drug (CFI-40095) developed by the team led by Drs. Tak Mak of the Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and Dennis Slamon of the University of California, LA, two of the world’s most acclaimed cancer researchers, has been approved by Health Canada to proceed to Phase 1 clinical trial in Canada. In the lab, the drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of human breast and ovarian cancers, as well as colorectal, glioblastoma, lung, melanoma, pancreatic and prostate cancers.”
“The incredible fact that the drug has been developed solely with donor and grant dollars makes it an even more extraordinary accomplishment” Dr. Mak said.
Once again I am asking for your help, dear friends and family, in reaching my fundraising goal of $4,000.00 in support of this very worthy cause on the 60K Sept. 7 & 8th Weekend Walk.
On my training walks, I remember my heroes, Mimi, Marvin, Mervyn, Ross, and Kevin who taught me about great courage...and their spirit will be with me every step of the way.
My honorary mascots for the walk, are Joey, Arlene, Myrna, Michelle, and Barry, all indomitable Cancer Survivors, who have taught me lessons of great stamina and strength of will . This Walk is for you dear ones.
With my most heartfelt thanks!
