2014

We are at it again.  Last year was our first walk.  It was longer and harder than I thought but the sense of accomplishment and pride in knowing that I was contributing to a cause that could help us all was exhilarating.  That is how we ended back here.  We are gearing up for year two and would so appreciate any help towards aiding our team in achieving our fundraising goal.

2013

I am Team Captain for Team Poutine & Boob-otie.

The name for our little quartet was my cousin Jaclyn's idea.  Firstly it refers to our backgrounds...two French Canadians & two South Africans.  Secondly there is no way around it...we all love food.  It is partly this love of food that got me thinking about doing this walk.

I was introduced to this walk about five years ago.  Some wonderful ladies in my community began a fund raiser, Ladies Out Laughing, to support Princess Margaret Hospital.  I was inspired by the women who had either battled cancer or were supporting loved ones who had fought the fight.  I have to admit that after years of being at home with little kids the idea of a 2-day, 60-kilometre or 1-day 32-kilometre walk through the neighbourhoods of Toronto seemed like a bigger challenge than I could physically handle.  Skip down the road a few years and I have started to work out regularly (usually), do my best to not eat all the crusts off the kids plates (usually) and am ready to undertake this challenge.  Last fall I was doing a little cross border shopping with my ladies and thought that maybe I could coax them into joining me on this endeavour, the answer was YES!

The Canadian portion of our group is made up of myself and my cousin Jaclyn Jones, sometimes referred to as my 'mini-me'.  The South African contingency is made up of my bestie since highschool, Sue Hawkins and her cousin Jill Berridge.  We are excited to undertake this challenge while supporting each other.  Most importantly, I am very proud to support this wonderful cause and help raise funds to benefit the The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, a leader in the fight against all women's cancers.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my personal page and supporting us in any way you can!
