Donate to my journey and make this Weekend matter!

The Shoppers Drug Mart® Weekend to End Women’s Cancers™ is a 2-day, 60-kilometre or 1-day 32-kilometre walk through the neighbourhoods of Toronto. It’s going to be a challenge, but I’m ready to do something bold and powerful in an effort to end women’s cancers once and for all.

My commitment is based on love for my sister, Yvette Panchoo, who is battling breast cancer for the 2nd time. My sister, Yvette was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997 and then again in 2012. Receiving this news a second time was just about the most devastating and scariest experience for Yvette, her worst nightmare was back. Naturally, she started to wonder if she will survive this horrible disease again. She had been through the chemotherapy and radiation treatment after her first diagnosis and as difficult as it was, she won the battle and was doing very well for fifteen years, until May of 2012. As you can imagine, there is no easy way for one to be prepared to travel such a rough road again. For Yvette, the chemotherapy treatment was the scariest, and she was told it would be more aggressive this time around, which it was. Believe me, it is one thing hearing the stories of a cancer survivor but it is so much more emotionally stressful living through it or living close to it. Yvette was not just fighting for her life, she was also fighting for the lives of her two children, especially her youngest; a son who is now only ten years old. I am so very proud of her! I am inspired by her strength and the continuous work that is been done by Princess Margaret Cancer Centre to ensure that the most innovative methods and state of the art equipment are used to help patients fight this terrible disease. My family and I are extremely grateful that Yvette is on the road to recovery again and will be victoriously walking on September 6th. There is hope after the diagnosis and we want to give some of that hope back to others!

I ask you to take a stance with me and join this life-saving adventure for all women. Be a part of my very personal journey - by giving, by walking with me, or simply by sharing my story with your circle of influence. Don’t stand back and think about what you could have done – take that first step today! Make a donation of $10 or more and persuade your friends and family to do the same.  You can donate in remembrance of; or in solidarity with a loved one or friend who has battled or is currently battling this dreadful illness – we have the opportunity to change thousands of lives, beginning with our own.

This isn’t just my journey – it’s yours, too.
Make it a Weekend you’ll never forget.

A GREAT BIG thank you to everyone who came out and supported my teams BBQ fundraiser on Sunday. It was awesome, because of this event we are now $1200 closer to our goal. You are helping to bring hope to someone battling this terrible disease.
