The 2014 Toronto Shoppers Drug Mart Weekend to End Women's Cancers benefiting Princess Margaret Cancer Centre

Men can get breast cancer, too. And survive it. And as many of you know, I'm one of those survivors, having had breast cancer in 2008, as well as Ewing's sarcoma in 1971 and, in 2011, thyroid cancer - a three time survivor! You can find my story on the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation's web site at:

However, it's not just about me.  The day after the 2012 Weekend walk, my oldest daughter, Stephanie, was told she had invasive breast cancer.  After much testing, there does not appear to be a genetic link to my cancer - it just is.  Not only is she among the younger women with BC, but she was just about to celebrate her first wedding anniversary.  Truly, a period of a rollercoaster of emotions.

Since then, Stephanie has had a double mastectomy, reconstruction, chemotherapy and radiation.  She has just completed her 'hospital' treatements but continues to receive medication that hopefully will avoid a recurrence.  Not what a newlywed twenty-eight year old should be doing with her life.  If you'd like to know more, please see her story at  or her amazing blog - with thousands of readers around the world -

The Weekend to End Women's Cancers is a two-day, 60-kilometre walk or one-day 30 kilometre walk through the neighbourhoods of Toronto.

Proceeds benefit The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret, funding important breast cancer and gynecologic cancers research, education, services and care.

We need cures, and we need them now.  Please support my sixth Weekend journey and this very worthy cause with a donation. Thank you very much.
