Please Support My 3rd Weekend Journey
What are YOU doing August 18?
That's the day I head out on my third Weekend to End Breast Cancer journey. I don't use the word "journey" lightly -- the Weekend is 60 long, sweaty kilometres of walking through the city streets. But it's also an emotional and spiritual journey, walking with hundreds of other women (and a few men, too!) who have all raised at least $2,000 to fight breast cancer.
If any of you have ever heard me talk about the Weekend, you've probably seen my eyes light up, even if I may throw in one of my trademark sighs. The Weekend is a way to give back to my community and participate in something that is truly bigger than myself. I'd say it's the one unselfish thing I do, but it is so rewarding I can't even call it an unselfish act.
I'm proud to say that once all the checks I've sent in are processed, I'll have exceeded the minimum fundraising requirement. But I want to do so much more.
Any donations are deeply appreciated. And if you happen to live in the city, check out the information on cheering stations and come out and cheer all of us tired walkers on. The support we get on the streets is what keeps us going in the final few hours of each day.
Thanks for reading this long and rambling note. And thanks to all of you who have already donated, helping me raise over $6500 in the last 3 years. Your support means so much!
Proceeds benefit the BC Cancer Foundation, funding important breast cancer research, education, services and care.
