It's time to think pink...

Last year I watched my mum and her team walk in support of our close family friend Marilyn. Marylin's life was first affected by breast cancer over 12 years ago; on March 11th, very sadly, she passed away at the age of 48. To put hope back in the midst of sorrow, this year I have the honour of joining all of Marilyn's Marauders. The Weekend to End Breast Cancer gives us a chance to combat the disease that took Marilyn away from us. I'll be walking not only in memory of Marilyn but, also, in support of all of the women like her that are (or might one day be) affected by breast cancer.

The Weekend to End Breast Cancer is a two-day, 60-kilometre walk through the neighbourhoods of Toronto. Proceeds benefit Princess Margaret Hospital, funding important breast cancer research, education, services and care. Last year over 17 million dollars were raised.

The potential that this weekend has to make a difference in the lives of those around us is worth so much more than the blisters and muscle aches that walkers like me will experience. As a University student, I am walking with the hope that what I am doing will reduce the chances that the women of my generation will have to live in fear of this disease. Your donations, no matter what the size, will help make that hope a reality.
