Think Pink
Think Pink

This is my second year participating in the Weekend to End Women's Cancer. I think it's a great opportunity for people who want to help find a cure for the disease that affects such a great number of people around the world.

In the past year, I have participated in five other events to raise money and awareness for this cause. I cannot even begin to explain how emotional they can be. Getting involved can be such a rewarding experience and I am so honored to be able to walk alongside so many fighters and survivors, and other people who have the motivation to get out there and help fight.

Last year I found out that a very close family friend had developed breast cancer. In just a few short weeks she was put through intense chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. While she was in the hospital, my friend Nikki and I participated in a run for Breast Cancer awareness and sent her pictures of how many people were there to support her and the millions of others suffering from the same disease. Through everything, she never gave up, she never let her emotions or sickness get the better of her, and above all she never lost her amazing sense of humor. I want to do this walk for her, and for everyone else out there like her who are such amazing people and have so much to live for.

I think that the biggest reason I am passionate about getting involved in cancer research fundraising is because those who have survived the disease amaze me with how strong they are. Although I have an amazing family and support system, and as much as I'd like to think I could fight, I don't know if I would be able to put my emotions aside to push through with a positive outlook. For that, I think cancer survivors are heroic.

Our vision is to live in a world where there is a cure for cancer and it will no longer have such a fatal affect on us and our loved ones. Help by donating today!

Thank you :) -Brit

Shoppers Drug MartŪ  Weekend to End Women's Cancers? is a one-day, 32-kilometre walk through the neighbourhoods of Toronto. It will be a challenge and I am ready to take on this endeavour to find a cure to breast and gynecologic cancers.

This is my journey.
